Friday Film Shoot

Finally, our first day of shooting is here. First, let me talk about the project.

foods-4-thought is a company started by a man whose daughter committed suicide. He started the company to help with suicide awareness. The company has a logo that it is trying to get put onto different food related items, similar to the breast cancer logo. Whenever you see the logo, which is a butterfly, you know that by buying that product you are putting money towards preventing teen suicide.


The company has asked us to make a PSA that relates the company to teen suicide awareness. We came up with a couple of really good ideas, so we're going to film all the ideas and present them to the company. We will do some rough edits of each to let them see what direction we're heading. Once they pick an idea they like, we'll re-film and make it look professional.

The idea of suicide is a little bit... well, depressing. I've had a friend attempt suicide once, it's not exactly an uplifting subject. I feel like to make this work, we'll either have to be brutal and shocking, or edge away from suicide to focus more on the idea that people can talk over a good homemade meal. However, I think we found a nice medium. People are considering suicide, but someone comes and talks to them before they do it. It's not depressing, it's got the shock factor, and it's also got a good message.

I'm excited about this. It's our first film shoot. I've got a really good feeling about this.
